Freelancing and part-time working as a new parent
I’ve been back at work for seven months since becoming a Mum. And I thought it was about time I wrote a blog post to say hello and share what I’m working on.
In January I started as Communications Manager (part-time) for BlueAdapt. We’re uncovering the links between health risks in coastal waters and climate change (I’ll save that update for another day!).
My freelance work kicked off in December with some website copywriting for the fabulous Matt James and Polly Cook. Fast forward to June and I’ve completed seven juicy projects!
It’s definitely been an adjustment going back to work as a Mum, and I initially lost some confidence from taking time off.
New strengths and finding my feet
My Blueadapt colleagues and freelance clients have been supportive and pushed me out of my comfort zone to help redefine my strengths. I’ve certainly become more efficient because time is more precious. I also feel more reflective and patient. This seems to be working out pretty well for my clients as we are working together like clockwork.
